About Community Roles

Community roles recognize verified contributions, identify experienced members, or grant responsibilities within the SFMB community.

Special Roles earned through contributions are never granted automatically. After meeting the minimum requirement, a member must request the role from a Moderator. The Moderator reviews the relevant contributions and grants the role manually.

Special Roles

A member must hold at least one of the Special Roles listed below to post in #request.

Role	Minimum requirement
Bug Finder	Report at least 5 bugs.
Sound Producer	Contribute at least 5 sound resources.
Spriter	Contribute at least 5 sprite resources.
Stage Creator	Have at least 10 uploaded stages rated 4 or higher.
Translator	Contribute at least 1 text resource.

Bug Finder

Bug Finder recognizes members who have helped improve the game through bug reports. After reporting at least five bugs, ask a Moderator to review the reports and grant the role manually.

Sound Producer

Sound Producer recognizes members who have contributed at least five sound resources through the community's sound-resource channel.

Spriter

Spriter recognizes members who have contributed at least five sprite resources through the community's sprite-resource channel.

Stage Creator

Stage Creator recognizes members with at least ten uploaded stages that each have a rating of 4 or higher.

Translator

Translator recognizes members who have contributed at least one text resource, such as an in-game translation.

Stage Moderator

Stage Moderators help keep Stage World ratings fair by playing and rating uploaded stages.

Members may apply for the role when all of the following are true:

They spend a significant amount of time playing SFMB.
They play most of the stages being uploaded.
They have played more than 500 stages.
They do not have the Shitposter role.

Meeting these conditions does not grant the role automatically. Applicants must be reviewed before receiving Stage Moderator permissions.

Contest Roles

Contest Manager

The Contest Manager role was created to organize Stage Contests. It is currently held by Abacta.

Contest Staff

Contest Staff members evaluate contest levels and are selected by the Contest Manager. The current Contest Staff members are @Cloudz, @Jorden, @skillaway, and @Marci599.

Staff Roles

Moderator

Moderators manage the community, enforce its rules, maintain community channels, manually grant eligible roles, and report major service problems to the Developer. This is an appointed responsibility rather than a role earned through a fixed contribution count.

Developer

The Developer role is currently assigned only to neoarc, the project's developer. It cannot be obtained through community contributions or by requesting the role.

Requesting a Role

To receive a Special Role, contact a Moderator after meeting its minimum requirement. Provide enough information to locate the relevant bug reports, resources, or stages. The Moderator verifies the contributions and assigns the role manually.
